Weather you live on this lovely island or are taking a holiday there is no reason you should ever miss a sunset view on Koh Phangan. It’s the part of the day where you can really process the beauty of Thailand and in general be thankful that you get to enjoy the island life of Koh Phangan!

It is easy to find a great place to catch the sunset views on Koh Phangan. You can walk most of the beaches, sit pool side at hostels and villas or find a beach bar with a sunset view to your liking.

I am all about hitting up a bar for sunset so I can enjoy peoples company, order a drink and truly take in the beautiful scenery Koh Phangan offers.

These 7 spots are my favorite places to take in the sunset views of this incredible island, not only for its beauty but also for the uniqueness that each bar holds. All are perfect for day time outings as well as late night fun!

Go ahead and get your party on after the sun takes its final breaths of the day!

Up Top Sunset Views

Secret Mountain

This is easily one of the best spots on the island for day time and night time vibes. A decent trek up by motor bike or taxi, Secret Mountain offers a pool for 50-baht entry, food, drinks and serious 5-star scenery that you won’t find anywhere else on the island.

With a mix of tropic palm trees and the beach on the horizon you can see so much jaw dropping views in one place. I catch the sunset views here at least once a week. The atmosphere, scenery and excess of seating will keep you coming back to Secret Mountain.

Put your feet up, lay back and gaze over Koh Phangan’s beauty with the best coconut shake on the island in your hand.

Amsterdam Bar

This is one of the most popular destinations on the island for sunset views due to its chill vibes, good food, pool and stellar high up seating overlooking the ocean. Amsterdam Bar has a top level and bottom level floors that offer a variety of cushions to lay down on or sit comfortably and chill.

You can see the National Park in the very far distance of the horizon. On a clear day, if it doesn’t make you want to go check it out, I would be surprised because honestly, its one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in Thailand!

They play a diverse set of tunes and are almost always a packed house so I would get their early. Every time I come here, I find myself lying on the cushions with a pinapple shake in my hand while making new friends from all over the world.

This is also a place where your vibes can fly high, if you know what I mean 😉 Add in a “happy shake” to your Amsterdam Bar experience to really feel the happiness of Koh Phangan if thats what you are into!

Bluerama (Adult Only Pool Bar)

This is probably one of the more expensive places on the island but with good reason. Located a bit before Amsterdam Bar, Bluerama offers stunning views with an infinity pool that overlooks still to this day one of the best sunset views I have ever seen. The pool bar is 600 baht so be prepared on arrival if you want to take that too good to be true Instagram photo. Even without using the pool, Bluerama has a view unlike any other.

They have a small menu with cuisines that are sure to please if you are willing to pay the prices. The best part about this bar is there ARE NO KIDS. Clearly a great perk for those of us that want a kid free holiday.

Due to popularity and it being a part of a resort if you know you would like to eat the top-level food while enjoying such epic views, I would make a reservation in advance. If you are only going for drinks and sunset, they have plenty of standing areas too!

ThreeSixty Bar

The name suits the look, you can basically do a complete 360 and see something different everywhere you turn. With great service and a constant flow of friendly people filtering through, you are bound to have a great time here.

Weather you are going during the day or for the sunset views and the night life, it will be a place on Koh Phangan that you will remember forever. They have events going on each week so I would look on their Facebook page to see whats happening at ThreeSixty Bar while you are in Koh Phangan!

Down Low Sunset Views

Sunset Walk

Nearly a year later of me coming back to the island, Sunset Walk is booming more than ever. Located in the central part of the island Sunset Walk has a huge landscape that offers front row seats at the beach with bean bags, chairs, cushions and regular table seating throughout the entire restaurant. They have enhanced their menu with Thai and western dishes and let me tell you, its delish!

Sunset Walk has a “singles section” where obvie the idea is to meet “single people”, well good idea on their part as I have met a few handsome guys here and it is in the perfect spot to catch the sunset views right on the ocean.

They have a play area for kids, a walking deck that is great for taking pictures and the best happy hour deals on the island where high level cocktails are 100 baht from 3 to 8! Sunset Walk has events going on all the time, usually free too, check out their website for weekly parties going on during your stay!

Freeway Bar

Freeway Bar is located right on the water where the bay of Hin Kong can be seen for miles. Its extreme chill vibe, hippie decor and friendly staff makes for a perfect place to catch your next sunset view. They offer Thai and western food options as well as constant cold beer, which in my opinion is a must have!

Perhaps the best part about Freeway Bar is its big sand dune in the middle of the ocean. If you plan the tide right the entire sand bar turns into its own sandy island where you can lay out, take some great pictures and enjoy the scenic views.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a place you keep coming back too,  Freeway sometimes has live music events and if you are looking into a bamboo tattoo, they have one of the best artists on the island! You can check out his work on their website.

Casa Tropicana

This is my favorite place to Co-work and watch the sunset views over the miles of calm ocean. With high speed internet, seaside tables, cabanas and a small sandy beach, Casa Tropicana is the perfect place to not only enjoy the sunset but also the day vibes as well! You can see kite surfers and jet skis in the distance at all times.

Casa will rent paddle boards and kayak for 250 baht an hour and if you want to take your sunset view to the next level, I totally suggest it! You can also rent jet skis here too. Casa is water sport friendly and the best place to get wet in the sun.

Every Monday they have FREE sunset yoga right on the beach as well! Oh and they also offer FREE morning yoga on Wednesdays.

Like come on, can this place get much better?!

Yes, it can, Casa Tropicana offers cheap private and dormitory style rooms and has some of the best service I have seen on the island. They have an outstanding Latino/western menu and great happy hour prices. Casa’s staff are beyond amazing and people I easily made friends with while living here.
